The Vale of Aylesbury 16mm Group is part of the Vale of Aylesbury Model Engineering Society which runs within the grounds of the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre at Quainton Road. The Vale of Aylesbury Model Engineering Society has been established for over 40 years, and promotes engineering  to widen public knowledge and understanding of engineering through the medium of construction, display and operation of engineering models. The main attraction in our site is the miniature railway, which runs 1km in the Buckinghamsire Railway Centre. We have a variety of different models which run on our layout, from steam, to diesel, electric and battery. We welcome any kind of powered locomotives.

The Vale of Aylesbury MES 16mm Group usually operates every Sunday between Easter and October, and Wednesdays during school holidays.

​We mainly model narrow gauge railways to 16mm to 1 foot scale, but we also run G scale and gauge 1 on our layout.

PLEASE NOTE: All steam locomotives which run on our garden railway must have a valid steam test certificate as we run in public and are a model engineering society covered by the Southern Federation of  Model  Engineers.
